The Right Kind of Rest

My mind is heavy, and I feel so tired
weighed down by the day and all it required.
I keep trying to live like You want me to
but in the middle of the noise-it gets hard to do.
I lose sight of the things that matter the most
instead of selflessly serving, I get self-engrossed.
Help me to be Your hands and feet
and a light in this world to the people I meet.
I don’t want to be rich, and I don’t want fame
The only One lifted up should be Your Name.
“Come to Me all weary of the fight
for My yoke is easy and My burden is light.”
Thank You, Jesus for Your promise of rest
when we come to You broken, worn out, and stressed.
You meet us in our mess right where we are
with arms open wide- we’re never too far.
So tonight before I climb into bed,
I’ll bend my knees and bow my head.
I’ll ask for grace for the ways I fell short
and thank You for Your mercy, love, and support.
So when I feel tired and weighed down by the day
I’ll come to You thankful for Your rest as I pray.
Choosing bold faith with you,
-Katie
“Then Jesus said, Come to me, all you who are weary and carry heavy burdens, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you. Let me teach you, because I am humble and gentle at heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy to bear, and the burden I give you is light.”
Mathew 11:28-30
