Sunshine

The sun reminds me how to live by shining out its light
It’s warm and bright and makes me feel like everything’s alright…
It’s timely and it’s certain; each morning it appears
It may hide away for the night, but it never disappears.
It’s filled with so much light; it just can’t help but shine
Its rays reach out for a warm embrace and find its way to mine.
I want to be just like the sun to everyone I meet
Showing them that with some light, darkness can retreat.
I’d like to say that every day is all blue sky and clouds,
That I shine just like the sun and stand out from the crowd.
But there are days the storm comes rolling in and darkness starts to grow
I feel less like the sun and more like a tornado.
The wind begins to shift, and thoughts begin to spin
Old items start to fly around causing pain again.
I don’t mean to cause any harm it’s just life forces that collide
Twisting all together getting tangled up inside.
The simple truth is that the sun may not always shine,
But behind the clouds the light still shines-and the same is true for mine.
I’ve come to learn that even the sun has to face some rain
But the storms don’t last forever, and the sun comes out again.
When it comes back out to shine it’s as bright as it was before
It can’t be overcome, because the light comes from its core.
The same is true for me and those who believe
That darkness has no victory, and the Light demands it leaves!
Sunshine warms me up from the outside to within
Reminding me to shine for Him and that light always wins.
John 1:5
“The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it.”
Mathew 5:14-16
“You are the light of the world. A town built on a hill cannot be hidden. Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl. Instead, they put it on its stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house. In the same way, let your light shine before others, so that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven.”
