See You Soon...

I find myself thinking of you more and more each day

With every passing year, I seem to have more I want to say.

You always had the answer because it didn’t come from you

You walked so close to Jesus that He showed you what to do.

I know you’re walking with Him now and you’re more alive than ever

And that one day soon we all will be in Heaven together forever.

Waiting here is the hardest part; some days feel like a lifetime

The mountains out in front of me feel like more than I can climb.

You told me to put my trust in God because He cares for me

That He never would forsake me, and that He wouldn’t leave…

At the time, I thought I knew and had it figured out

That life would go just as planned-never had a doubt.

As I grow older, I realize the wisdom in all you said

You learned that truth by walking with Him and in His Word you read.

I miss your hugs and the way you brought our family so close

Those days spent together are some I loved the most.

You served with your whole heart and gave so selflessly

I want to live my life the same; thank you for teaching me.

All of us who walk the earth will one day pass away

Like a vapor in the wind, we aren’t here to stay…

If today is all I have, then I know just what I’ll do

I’ll live a life of purpose; one unique to me but looks a bit like you.

Because of you and the words you prayed each and every day,

The Lord has made me strong and shaped me into who I am today.

This is just the “in-between” of here today and gone tomorrow,

There’s a present hope in the waiting of a life with no more sorrow.

So, until we meet again, I’ll do my best to make you proud

To lead people to Jesus; His grace and love abounds.

Here on earth, we carry pain-none of us are immune

Though because you trusted Jesus…it’s not goodbye but “see you soon…”

Psalm 34:18

“The Lord is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit.”
